About

Us

The Builders' Conference is an independent, not for profit trade association providing members and the construction industry with up to the minute sales leads, market intelligence, statistical data and networking opportunities.

Established for over 80 years, we have one of the most extensive and trusted on-line databases of projects, clients, consultants and contractors in the UK. We handle over 11,000 contract opportunities each year worth in excess of £50billion. Our members monitor, apply for and win work every day using our live database.

Totally independent and not affiliated or funded by any private sector organisation, our trade association is run for the benefit of our members. We have a dedicated team of researchers whose sole job is to collect data on projects and opportunities and add them to the database. Members of The Builders’ Conference benefit from accurate, up to date and valuable information relevant to the construction industry to assist their business. See below for further membership benefits and how to join.

In addition to in depth statistical analysis and business data we host a virtual hub for knowledge share. This means we disseminate industry best practice to our members along with an extensive and accurate on-line directory ensuring members stay connected and informed at the touch of a button. Networking and social events are regularly organised across the year to enable and encourage members to meet and discuss issues and business matters relevant to the industry.

Our data and market analysis across all sectors is relied upon by some of the UK’s leading construction organisations and is used to create the BC Live League table of Contract awards published every month by the online Magazine, Construction Index.

Our members include main contractors, subcontractors and consultants. Our service is of immense value to companies whose turnover ranges from under £1m to over £1bn – operating right across the UK - in every sector.

Our History

The Builders’ Conference was established in 1935 as a non-profit making trade association, providing tender and marketing information to the construction industry.

Guided by a non-executive committee of construction sector experts and an accountant, we operate solely for our members who pay an annual subscription to gain exclusive access to our database, industry data and networking opportunities.

The trade association moved to our current base in Sutton, Surrey in 1994. The team has increased to more than 10 researchers, led by our Chief Executive, Neil Edwards.

Over the years, The Builders' Conference has set the standard for providing tender information, market intelligence and fulfilling educational needs, as well as championing best practice and issues affecting members.

Today we are the UK Construction Industry’s premier data provider. Uniquely, we are a membership based organisaton dedicated to providing the most accurate, up to the minute data and project information as well as arranging networking opportunities.

A cornerstone of our association is trust.
